We haven't seen much of Sea of Thieves past its E3 debut, but our lucks about to change as the title sets sail into a playable Alpha state.
While likely not playable by the masses, those taking part in the game's 'Insider' experience might just win the luck of the draw and gain access to the game's new build. For the rest of us, we'll have to settle on a Developer Diary-style walkthrough video.
Sea of Thieves allows everyone to reenact those innocent pirate fantasies they held onto as kids. Though you'll be pulling out the blunderbuss more often than the scimitar, your quest for buried treasure takes the route of the classic 'X marks the spot' fiasco of a treasure map. While your handheld parchment will show you the overview of the island in question, you're on-board navigation table shows the bigger picture; allowing you to plot a course through the high oceans.
What is Sea of Thieves? We'll let this guy do the talking.
Team up with a few friends to sail your way to right plot of land, use your compass to locate the right spot and dig away with your band of merry men. Don't be expecting a hole, though; the treasure seems to rise to the occasion! And if there's anyone lurking around the waves, you might find yourself brawling with an enemy crew hell-bent on swiping your cash. Fend them off or be sent to the ghostly Ship of the Damned.
It's a co-op escapade reminiscent of Guns of Icarus. Only with a little more purpose to your travelling. Bring a smart group of seamen and you'll get the job done.
