The International is running through the weekend, and while the annual championships for one of the biggest games in the world is cause for celebration, Dota fans also have some less exciting news. A recent hack has left millions of official forum users with a whole lot of exposed information.
The breach occurred on July 10, exploiting a vulnerability in the older version of the vBulletin forum system, which ZDNet says is “widely known” among hackers. 1.92 million users have had their email, IP address, username, and password revealed. The leaked passwords are hashed, but uses an algorithm considered insecure among security experts.
The breach notification site, LeakedSource, suggests that about 80 percent of those passwords have been decrypted, many of them with easily accessible cracking tools. So change your passwords, guys.
Valve has yet to respond to the report.
