Paradox has announced the first add-on for their sci-fi strategy title Stellaris. The species pack will give players new phenotypes to control or compete against as they explore the galaxy.
The first species pack will feature Plantoids, sentient plant life. ”Instead of becoming salad or animal fodder,” says Paradox, ”these plants have reached for the stars and begun to spread their tendrils across the galaxy, planting the roots of new civilizations on new planets.” On the art side, the pack will include fifteen new portraits, a new city backdrop, and new ship models.
Plantoids will be available August 4. In addition, Paradox today released both the original Stellaris soundtrack and an ebook by Steven Savile titled Stellaris: Infinite Frontiers, which details humanity’s first contact with aliens.
