It’s been a long, strange road for the Outcast remake. It hit Kickstarter in 2014 but ultimately failed to meet its $600,000 funding goal, leading the developers to seek out alternate options. It seems they’ve found themselves a publisher, because they’ve just sent over some screenshots for Outcast: Second Contact.
Second Contact is a remake of 1999’s original classic Outcast, which had you in control of a former Special Forces agent named Cutter Slade, eventually landing on an unknown planet, where you must make your way among its alien inhabitants and prevent a catastrophe threatening multiple worlds.

The remake will once again have you exploring the mysteries of planet Adelpha, with improved visuals and modernized controls to take the dated classic into a new era. The original game saw an updated release in 2014 called Outcast 1.1 which offered better stability and improved visuals, but this is the first we’ve seen of a true remake in some time.
Outcast: Second Contact will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in March 2017, and we expect more details–perhaps along with some gameplay footage–at Gamescom.
