Iceberg Interactive announced today a partnership with Zoetrope Interactive to publish the horror adventure Conarium. The developer and publisher released thriller the Darkness Within in 2014 to a positive reception, and look to continue that success with the upcoming horror title set in an Antarctic expedition base.
You play as anthropologist Frank Gilman, attempting to pass the limits of human consciousness through a device called called Conarium. As you’d expect, disaster strikes, and you’re left on the Antarctic base to figure out the mysteries of what happened and learn the fate of the presciently-named expedition leader, Dr. Faust.
Of course, there are already tons of great independent games out there. We just happen to have a list of the best indie games on PC!
Conarium is directly inspired the Lovecraft novella At the Mountains of Madness, but is set after the original story. Iceberg Interactive CEO Erik Schreuder said “We here at Iceberg love a good horror game and Zoetrope always deliver. We are excited to see them working on a new Lovecraft-inspired franchise, as I am sure will be their huge fanbase.”
It’s no secret that we’re in a glut of small-scale horror games these days, but the difference between good and bad is all in the execution. We’ll find out how Conarium holds up when it launches in Q1 2017.
