Crowfall developers ArtCraft are planning to move to the next testing phase in upcoming MMO Crowfall. The ‘Big World’ Testing phase sets to raise the bar in what early adopters of the game have seen before in terms of the scope of the world. Previous to this the backers of the game have only experienced short testing time (a couple hours at a time) and it as been focused on things like combat in smaller instanced zones.
The new testing will begin to implement some of the foundation of the overall game including a much larger world and start putting in new back-end systems that will allow the game to start becoming the persistent online world the developers want it to be. “Up until now, we’ve been concentrating on the foundations of gameplay: movement, combat, powers, inventory and equipment, physics. At the beginning of summer, we decided it was time to make the jump from “instanced matches” (e.g. the Hunger Dome and Siege Perilous wrappers that we’ve used for testing) to our real architecture; the actual foundation for Crowfall” Said ArtCraft.
Alongside the new server systems and technical improvements, other aspects of the game are being changed and implemented including a new crafting system. “This is a (critical) step in the development of Crowfall, and we plan to use this version to learn and validate.” said the developers, however, they stressed that this is a testing build and is a long way off a viable playable experience for most players.
