Gamers who owned an Apple II, Commodore 64 or MS-DOS PC may remember chaotic platformer Dino Eggs that involved taking on the role of a time traveler who has to collect dinosaur eggs and dino babies and bring them back to the future, while avoiding creepy-crawlies and a gigantic dinosaur leg.
The original developer, David Schroeder, is bringing his game back with an updated version of the 8-bit title, Dino Eggs: Rebirth. The game will still have a retro look, but instead of 8-bit, it’ll resemble a 16-bit game. Progress!
In addition to “updated” graphics, Dino Eggs: Rebirth will also include 40 new widescreen skill levels across four new time eras (Outlands, Swamplands, Stone Age, Ice Age - though how dinosaurs exist in the latter two eras is anyone’s guess), five new species of baby dinosaurs to hunt and capture, new egg types, and the ability to switch between two graphic skins: Schroeder’s and Jamo Games pixel artist James Biddulph.
The game also now includes multiplayer, in which up to 8 players play the single player mode at once, using the environmental hazards to off each other. The single player campaign will also add over 25 chapters in the “Secrets of the Time Quartz” story mode, along with over 30 puzzling Dino Dilemmas (plus bonus dilemmas that unlock after completing the story.)
