Oh, Sniper Elite. What would we do without your in-depth exploration of long-distance assassination? How would we make do without your hyper-violent portrayal of ballistics versus human flesh? What reason would we have to go on without knowing there’s another sequel in development?
Well, there may or may not be one such sequel! VideoGamer.com caught wind of a LinkedIn profile citing work on a Sniper Elite 4. Rebellion, the developers behind the series, quickly denied the rumor, but then of course they would.
Company founder Jason Kingsley responded by saying “Last year we celebrated the Sniper Elite series’ 10th birthday and 10 millionth sale, so our IP is still hugely important to both Rebellion and independent UK games development. We’re actually gearing up to announce a new Rebellion game soon, so expect to hear more from us before GDC!”
Whether or not that new game is Sniper Elite 4 is up in the air pending the official announcement, but signs certainly point to yes. Are you ready for more long-distance violence, or would you prefer to see Rebellion working on something else? GDC is set to run March 14-18, so expect some details within the next month.
