Bandai Namco is working with another small developer on another game built on horror, but this one is far less whimsical than Little Nightmares, which we covered earlier today. Get Even is a 3D horror title built on asking one question: “What is real?”
You play as Cole Black, alone in a dilapidated asylum, with your only remaining memory being that of an attempt to rescue a teenage girl with a bomb strapped to her chest. You’ll travel into the depths of Black’s mind, confronting questions of reality and memory as you attempt to piece together what happened.
Bandai Europe’s Samuel Gatté said “Over the past 2 years, Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe and The Farm 51 have built a fruitful collaboration, from artistic vision to game mechanics. We always tried to find deeper meaning than traditional gaming syntax. In Get Even, the strong story and memorable characters really immerse the player in a very thin boundary between virtuality and reality. Hopefully we’ve created an experience that will be as meaningful as it is unforgettable.”
I’m as tired as anyone of the horror adventure genre, but Get Even has a solid look that could turn out to make it a good, atmospheric chiller. We’ll find out when it launches Spring 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
