Gears of War has always been a franchise that’s defined the Xbox, despite its few flirtations with PC ports. Microsoft is certainly hoping to change that with Gears of War 4 this time around, having released a multitiered list of system requirements well ahead of the game’s release, and letting folks go hands on with the PC version and even see what the graphical settings look like.
The minimum spec suggests and AMD FX-6300 or i5 3470 @ 3.0Ghz along with a Radeon R7 260X or Geforce 750 Ti, while recommended specs push that to an AMD FX-8350 or i5 4690 @ 3.5Ghz and a Radeon R9 290X or Geforce 970. The so-called “ideal spec,” presumably intended for 4k, has the mighty requirements of an AMD FX-9590 or i7 4790 @ 4Ghz and a Radeon R9 Fury X and Geforce 980 Ti.
Meanwhile, folks who’ve had hands-on time with the title at Gamescom had the chance to dig through the menus and check out the graphical options, which you can see in the video above. Those options are extensive, and even include a few toggles I’m not sure I’ve ever seen in a game before.
PC fans are likely to remain disappointed that the game is locked to Windows 10, but it seems Microsoft is still giving this PC edition their full effort.
