No Man’s Sky hit the market recently and by many accounts, while it delivers the vast universe to explore that was promised, it’s also a bit of a repetitive grind fest. Luckily, modders have taken to making improvements to ease the game’s problems and enhance the journey. We’ve brought a few of our favorties together on GameWatcher and are putting the spotlight on two new particularly enjoyable mods that have recently come out.
Both of these two particular mods are aimed a couple of the most annoying parts of No Man’s Sky. The first mod is a bit of an exploitative one on the game’s economy. No Man’s Sky, despite claiming to be about exploration and the sheer depth of the journey, requires the player to constantly farm resources to power vital survival systems and create upgrades. It’s safe to say that in the vanilla game, you’ll spend far more hours tackling resource management and inventory screens than taking in the sights.
The mod, straightforwardly titled Make upgrades and refueling completely free by modder Didlid cuts out the chores by doing just as its title states. In a way, it cuts out a huge part of the game, but that part is largely the grinding and repetitive aspect that has made the overall experience of the title suffer anyways. Without having to farm regularly, you can feel free to spend more time exploring and taking in the sights and sounds of your galactic expedition.
The second mod on our spotlight tackles a problem that doesn’t seem like one at first, but will quickly become more noticeable the longer you play. Your space suit in No Man’s Sky has an AI with a voice that lets you know when anything is close to being wrong, or when pretty much anything you can see with your own eyes is happening. At first, it’s just part of the game, but this virtual nanny’s incessant pestering notifications about currency, suit conditions, planet conditions, sentinels, and every other situation under the sun will become one that starts to grate on your sanity. Which brings us to the appropriately named mod.
Shut Up by modder Jackalopalen is a comprehensive and customization solution to your nagging cyber assistant. It allows players to either turn the AI’s notification voice lines off outright or choose which particular classes of notifications you want to disable. You can turn suit warnings and currency notifications off while leaving the less common storm warning notifications on, which is nice. However you decide to run this mod, space will be a lot more quiet and serene for it.
You can find these mods as their links above, or you can check out numerous other select mods we’ve pulled together in our No Man’s Sky mod database. No Man’s Sky is a game packed full of problems, but it’s also a game with enormous possibility due to its state as a near infinite sandbox. You can be rest assured that as the community continues to develop new creations to enhance the game, we’ll be sure to sort the best from the rest and organize them here for your convenience.
