Likely spurred on by the voices of distress from the Star Citizen community, it's long-delayed FPS mode will finally see a release.
Though it's been scheduled - and missed - release before, we're hopeful this is lacklustre 2-map introduction will actually make it on time. And with Patch 2.6 already on the test servers, things are looking good.
Already available through the game's test servers, those with an active Star Citizen access account can hop in a give it a whirl at their leisure. Of course, the major 2.6 update contains more than the shooter module, however; so those looking to do testing on some well - or lesser known - bugs and problems should get on board for a few other reasons.
With so many overshot release dates, Cloud Imperium Games want us all on-board wit their development roadmap.
But we all know the main use of test realms. Just like a beta test, the vast majority of those involved just wanted a quick way to play something early. What's the point of sitting on a release date when you could just try it now? No strings attached. Immoral; but it's a synthetic stress test.
Your all-purpose patch notes can be found over on the Star Citizen subreddit of all places - so be on the lookout for cries of relief and equal amounts of salt in the comments.
