Squad, developers of Kerbal Space Program, have just released update 1.1 (nicknamed the Turbo Charged update). After almost a year of work, the Turbo Charged update brings with it a host of changes.
The main upgrade to the game comes from the switch to the Unity 5 engine, giving players a smoother experience all around. There are also 64-bit binaries for both OSX and Windows that will allow users to take their mod support to another level.
Squad have also made other changes to the game to make it easier for new players. They’ve added a built in encyclopaedia (which is aptly named KSPedia) that allows players to learn the basics of building and flying their rockets. This doesn’t mean the more advanced players should ignore the KSPedia, there’s plenty of advanced concepts to read about if they want to learn how to plan a successful mission to another planet.
In addition to the KSPedia, new players will be happy to know the tutorials have been reworked from the ground up, making it easier to learn how to play the game. Not only have the tutorials been remake but they’ve been extended, covering topics ranging from basic construction of a rocket ship to learning how to execute a gravity turn.
If you’ve ever been even remotely interested in Kerbal Space Program, right now there’s never been a better time to try it. You can find the game on Steam, it’s on sale now for £17.99 (40% off).
