Pac-Man revivals have had some pretty notable recent success with Pac-Man 256, but that wasn’t the first or even the best update of the classic arcade game. Pac-Man Championship Edition and its DX follow-up were the smartest, most exciting riffs on the classic formula since Ms. Pac-Man, and that makes me incredibly excited for the announcement of Pac-Man Championship Edition 2.
Bandai Namco announced the game for September release with a new trailer showing off the sequel’s features. As with the previous CE title, you’ll get hordes of ghosts chasing you and gobble them up by the dozens once you’ve found a power pellet, resulting in some of the most satisfying high-score runs in gaming.
There’s tons of great, arcade-style action with the best indie games on PC!
Then there are jump pads and what look like invincible ghosts, though it’s tough to tell in one minute trailer. What isn’t hard to see is the giant, maze encompassing ghosts that will surely cause pac-nightmares for your runs.
Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is set to release on September. I might just disappear into a frenzied rave of flashing neon and hot dance remixes of classic arcade music.
