A city lives, sleeps, and breathes with the comings and goings of its inhabitants. Each street, house, and alleyway may contain a little bit of an overall character that is the city. These are the ideas at work within a new story-driven game from indie-developer AlPixel Games: A Place for the Unwilling.
This game was revealed over on TIG Forums. In it, the city is the actual protagonist. The player takes up the role of an observer, following the narrative of many different characters inhabiting the city. There is a thing that has entered the city which does not belong there. “It may be wise to fear it, the dark lurks even in the brightest places and nobody is safe,” claims the game’s description. It will be up to the player to unravel these events and learn the truth.
AlPixel Games are not quite newcomers to the gaming industry. They put out a small puzzle game called Missing Translation about four months ago, which won its share of fans for unique art aesthetic and gameplay. AlPixel is not alone in its endeavor, as the studio has partnered with Spain-based publisher GameBoosters, which also helped produce Missing Translation.
There’s no release window for A Place for the Unwilling just yet, but if you’d like to learn more about the game, head over to the AlPixel Games and GameBoosters websites and also follow Lucas Weston on Twitter for news and updates on the game.
