Our wait for Sleeping Dogs 2 is sadly going to be a bit longer, as developer United Front Games has just announced that their new title is a multiplayer third-person action game titled Smash+Grab. Set in a future urban dystopia, Smash+Grab will see two teams duking it out to see who can best bust up and loot our corporate future.
The game will hit Early Access in September, challenging players to 15-minute matches where their goal is to collect $50,000 in goods by looting various stores. You’ll use a combination of melee attacks and a variety of wild ranged weapons to assert your dominance, and the loot you gather as you attempt to reach your target score will also include new gear and mods.
“Smash+Grab combines our love of competitive online games with our expertise in action mechanics and hand-to-hand combat, sharpened during our development of Sleeping Dogs,” said United Front CEO Stephen Van Der Mescht. ”The playtesting rivalries got pretty intense in the studio during development, and we hope to see the same reaction on a bigger scale with Smash+Grab’s Early Access launch.”
While you can certainly color me disappointed that this isn’t a follow-up to Sleeping Dogs, it still looks like a fairly unique action title with unique mechanics and a colorful title, and I’m curious to see how it looks on the Early Access launch in September.
