Rocket League has been one of the biggest indie smash hits in a long while, debuting on PC and PlayStation 4 last year to critical and commercial acclaim, while an Xbox One version launched this month. The game will now be heading to stores with a retail disc version coming this year.
The announcement was made on the Colin and Greg Live Twitch show. According to the featured guest, Psyonix’s Jeremy Dunham, the retail release was just finalized and more information about the retail launch will be coming in the near future.
In response to a fan query on Facebook, the developer stated that the studio was making sure ”the retail version is special. Stay tuned for more details!” In the same post, the studio promised ”The Mac version is getting closer! No firm release date just yet, though.”
Rocket League was launched on the 7th July, 2015. Recently, Psyonix announced that at some point in the future, it will expand its gameplay and feature larger arenas for matches bigger than just 4 on 4 action.
