The Team 17 group is rebranding, but it isn’t entirely goodbye for the long-established name with its 34-year history.
Team 17 Group PLC will now be known as Everplay Group PLC. The company says this simplifies the company’s overall vision across three divisions and reflects the purpose to never stop playing.
But Team 17, a name synonymous with the Worms franchise, will continue under this new umbrella. It will remain as a developer, publisher, and label.
A New Era for Team 17
The Everplay name will come into play in early February. In a statement on the news, Everplay CEO Steve Bell had this to say,
“I am excited to be unveiling our new Group brand today, which we believe better represents our business which has evolved greatly since the IPO and reflects our DNA to never stop playing. This rebrand not only creates an ideal backdrop to foster greater cross-collaboration internally but also reflects our aspirations to expand our reach across complementary sectors within the broader indie market.’‘
It’s good to see the name of Team 17 continue. In recent years, it has continued to build the Worms franchise and back newcomers such as Hell Let Loose, Killer Frequency, The Escapists, and Overcooked. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the British company, making it one of the longest-standing in the games industry.
