If you’re a fan of Battlezone 98, you probably know that there was an expansion called the Red Odyssey. It released in very limited quantities, and those few copies only made it to the US. If you never managed to check it out, publisher Rebellion has some excellent news–the Red Odyssey has been fully remastered for Battlezone 98 Redux, and it’s out today!
The Red Odyssey brings two new factions to the first-person RTS, with the NSDF Black Dogs and the Chinese Red Army duking out in vehicular combat and stealth-powered ambushes in a war for control of a powerful portal technology. Two new single-player campaigns will span two planets and include 23 missions.
Both the original game and the Redux are pretty terrific! Check out our full Battlezone 98 Redux review!
30 new vehicles and buildings will be available to take into single-player and multiplayer. In addition to what’s in the paid expansion, all players will get access to 5 new multiplayer maps for free.
The Red Odyssey will be available later today on Steam and GOG for $9.99/£6.99, with a 15% discount until the end of July. If you haven’t picked up the main game yet, you can get it in a bundle with the expansion for $24.99/£18.99.
