After a disastrous launch on PC and the subsequent withdrawal of support for the port, it was never a guaranteed thing that Mortal Kombat XL, the expanded and collected final edition of the game, would make it to computers. However, MK magnate Ed Boon started dropping hints about a PC edition not long ago, and Mortal Kombat XL is now available for beta testing.
The beta runs until Monday, August 29, and is intended to test “improved” online play. It’s available free to all players, whether or not you own the original PC edition of Mortal Kombat X. This will be the first time PC players have the chance to check out the later DLC characters, including Bo’ Rai Cho, Triborg the Cyber Ninja, and guest characters including the Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface and Alien’s Xenomorph.

Warner Bros.-published titles have had a rocky history of late on PC between Mortal Kombat X and the rotten computer edition of Batman: Arkham Knight, but hopefully this beta test bodes well for things to come.
No word yet on what form XL’s PC release will take, how it will be priced, or when the final version will be available.
