Galactic Civilizations III was one of GameWatcher’s highest rated games in 2015, with Nick Horth giving it the mark of “excellent” and a score of 9/10 back in May when he reviewed it. Perhaps this means you’ll be excited to know that Stardock has official announced the first expansion pack called Mercenaries.
Galactic Civilizations III: Mercenaries will add a new campaign, Bazaars, new races, the ability to recruit elite units with special abilities and more. There’s going to be over 70 unique mercenary ships and multiple Bazaars to discover in Mercenaries, which Stardock says will add hours of gameplay.
“Each mercenary sets their own hiring price in terms of money and resource,” said Paul Boyer, Lead Designer of Galactic Civilizations III. “Because there are a finite number of mercenaries, each civilization is competing for their services. When one is hired by one civilization, it is no longer available to the others.”
The new races that enter into the game with this expansion include the Arceans and the Torians. The Arceans are an ancient and honorable civilization of warriors and the Torians are an aquatic species seeking to escape the slavery of the Drengin. Both races come with new traits, abilities, and tech trees.
Galactic Civilizations III: Mercenaries release on 18th February, 2016 and will cost $19.99 on Steam.
