After six long months, Bethesda have finally given mod makers the tools they need to start customising Fallout 4 in any way they want to. In the video found at the bottom of this article, Bethesda mention that this Creation Kit program is the same tool they use to work on the game, so mod makers should rejoice that they aren’t getting a watered down experience.
The Creation Kit this time around is integrated with Bethesda’s website. It looks similar to the Steam Workshop interface, but it seems to work a lot better with a controller. This will be the first Bethesda game to support mods on console, it makes sense why the developers would put so much time to make the experience of downloading mods as simple as possible.
For the first time in a Fallout game, you can now download mods within the game itself. You are able to post feedback, favourite any mods and install them without having to use an external program or third-party website.
Interested in being a part of the modding scene? Check out the Fallout 4 Creation Kit Wiki for more information on how to create mods. If you’ve never tried to make mods before, it sounds like now would be a great time to start.
Players who aren’t as interested in the creation side of mods but still want to use the mods themselves can head over to mods.bethesda.net. Here you are able to see the wide variety of mods already available, including: The Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, See-Through Scopes and Settlement Management Software.
PC players can access the open beta right now by following the instructions below. Xbox One users will get to experience the mods in May, but Playstation players will have to wait until June to try them out.
