Taking to the forums to announce the patch’s completion on Wednesday, Stardew Valley dev Eric Barone also stated how he wouldn’t release the patch into the wild before he was certain every major bug was either squashed or accounted for.
Now, just 2 days later, the patch has been penciled in to launch this Monday.
Though detailed patch notes are available on the main forum post - along with congratulatory messages from the players - the main changes heading into the game at the start of next week are likely the following.
- Shane and Emily are now available to marry. They each have new events, music, and more!
- Spouses now have a unique outdoor area and behavior on the farm.
- You can now choose from 5 different farm maps at character creation. Each map is focused on a different skill area.
- Standard Farm - The original Stardew Valley farm.
- Riverland Farm - Lots of water, good for fishing.
- Forest Farm - Foraging opportunities and a unique weed that always drops mixed seeds.
- Hill-top Farm - Has a small mineral deposit from which ores spawn, including a unique geode-bearing ore.
- Wilderness Farm - Bats and Golems spawn at night.
There’s also the possibilty of divorcing partners and constructing teleport totems to bridge the gap between long distances like the mountain and beach areas. Two new buildings - a Shed and Mill - can also be placed to either create additional produce overnight or simply act as a place to decorate with junk.
Again, the official patch notes contain a lot more than what’s been listed here. Head on over to take a look at those and likely hear about other player’s suggestions for the game going forward.
If you’re still banking on multiplayer, it should be out by the start of next year. If you really can’t wait, there’s still that experimental co-op mod from last week.
