E3 is dead! It certainly isn't, but we're seeing more and more big information drops and leaks come out before what used to be a time for great waves of excitement. Potentially aiming to dodge the information rush, THQ Nordic have announced the release dates for their 3 big 2017 titles.
Scattered across a wide-range of platforms, Battle Chasters: Nightware, ELEX and SpellForce 3 are all now confirmed for their once reported 2017 release windows.
First up comes Battle Chasers: Nightware. Those who voted this one up the Steam Greenlight ladder will be pleased to know this one is the closest of the three for release. Launching on October 7, it's an isometric RPG inspired by the early console years. Soft visuals reminiscent of more recent games like Bastion and Torchlight come to mind with this one. Players roam a detailed world and battle it out in turn-based brawls seemingly plucked straight from the classic JRPG formula.
Reaching Its Kickstarter Goal Almost 2 Years Ago, Battle Chasers - Nightwar Is Close
Next on the list comes ELEX just under 2 weeks later. Piranha Bytes' open-world RPG arrives on PC October 17. Combining science and fantasy is an interesting choice here, with the folks behind the Gothic series crafted an immensely detailed world filled with monsters and guns.
Last on the cards comes SpellForce 3 - a game that needs little introduction. Blending RPG and RTS elements together, fans of the franchise are being asked to wait until the crowded Holiday season to get their hands on this one. December 7 is certainly further away than the modest October release of THQ Nordic's other 2017 offerings.
Got a preference you'd like to talk about? Let us hear it. Battle Chasers - Nightwar may speak volumes to one while meaning next to nothing for another. Either way, we can imagine THQ Nordic are hoping to please the masses with some varied genres later this year. Good luck to them.
