While the release date for a OMORI - a psychological adventure game - was once penned in for Early 2015, the famous Kickstarter project has yet to see the light of day. Though things have been silent for a little while, the developers have recently updated everyone on the state of the ambitious, artistic title.
Admitting the 2015 timeframe was a naive step, the developers have apologized for the lengthy delays OMORI has seen since its original conception. And while they've done a relatively good job of keeping everyone in the loop even after almost 2 years have passed since missing its original launch date, some issues just can't be dodged.
The title - which seems like a healthy mix of Earthbound and Undertale - has been built on the popular RPG Maker software engine. Known for its age and consistent updates, it's being blaming for both the delay and overall improvement of the game.
A similar game is coming a little later this year. Yuppie-Psycho may fill the OMORI void.
With 34 updates between October 2015 to the present day, moving from RPGMaker VX Ace to the Mac-supported MV iteration caused just as many problems as it resolved. Each update to the core RPGMaker engine would cause incompatibilities with various plug-ins needed to make the game work. Because of the arising issues, the game still has no solid release date. But it is coming - eventually.
You can read the full update over on Kickstarter. For those who pledged to the game back then, check your postage details. They're sending out a few of the rewards next month. At least there's a new trailer.
