UPDATE: 07/3/17 - Although the release date is still up in the air, we did ask BattleGoat for an estimation, and Lead Designer David Thompson told us that they’re “aiming for a May/June release”. That date could change, but we should expect to see Supreme Ruler: The Great War released around that time.
Original Story: 3/3/17 - Under the impression that not many game developers have really outlined the strategy put in place to fight through the Great War, BattleGoat is set to develop its own with Supreme Ruler: The Great War.
Caving to player requests to head even further back in time for additional content following the release of Supreme Ruler: Ultimate, World War 1 remained the most requested time period.
With the tools necessary to make Supreme Ruler: Ultimate already primed and ready to go, Game Designer and Project Lead Christian Latour said “we are able to add the earlier time frame and flow seamlessly into the gameplay experiences for which the Supreme Ruler titles are so well known”. Turning the clock back to 1914 at the peak of the war’s initial outbreak, BattleGoat are to paint a brutal picture of a world rapidly falling into ruin whether you choose to send a major power into battle or stick to a smaller nation.
Ageing Well, Supreme Ruler: Ultimate Still Lives Up Despite The War Game Competition
Manually set victory conditions for a more tailored game, or opt for a smaller and/or grander scenario by playing through some of the war’s most brutal bouts in Set-Piece Scenarios. Heading straight into the 21st century, the outcome of your actions have a ripple effect on the thousands of historical events that played out throughout the turn of the century. Trade, intimidation tactics, espionage and diplomacy all play a major part in the potential problems of war.
Celebrating the 35th year of ‘intelligent strategy games’, BattleGoat studios didn’t offer any insight when it come to a potential release date for their newest entry. There isn’t even so much as a screenshot, so a trailer of Supreme Ruler: Ultimate is all we have to go on.
