Update: Somehow being officially revealed ahead of tomorrow's Twitch stream, Funcom have lifted the lid on the first major expansion to Conan Exiles - The Frozen North.
The massive update brings 70% more land mass to the game's current world, ushering in players away from the heat of the desert and into the similarly harsh climate of the snowy north. To tackle the change in temperature, players will need to dress for the occasion and make use of new survival tecniques like beekeeping, fishing with traps and cooking.
Improvements for the combat and crafting system are expected, with a new religion granting worshippers the abiltiy to send Ymir, Lord of Storm and War against their enemies. Want to get a brief look before tomorrow's stream? Take a look at the video below.
Original Story: Launching earlier this year, Funcom's survival title Conan Exiles basked in launch window sales figures as social networks exploded over its lewd sliders, hilarious bugs and hardcore gameplay, Since then. it's trickled off a little due to the next big survival game, but the developers are committed to keeping it alive.
Announcing plans to reveal a new expansion update earlier this week, the date has now been set. Tune into Funcom's Twitch channel at 5pm CEST / 11am EDT / Dam PDT to get your first look at the game's massive upcoming content patch.
We don't know a whole lot about it right now, but what we do know is that it's completely free, will offer up an all-new map and is set to launch on August 16. It'll land much like the game's many other patches - only with far more content.

The last major feature to make it into the exiled lands was the possibility to scale and climb just about any vertical surface - similar to Link in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The update received mixed opinions as the art of building a base on the side of a mountain was now far more susceptible to attack by what players are calling spidermen simply using nothing but their muscle to launch an assault. Past updates have included dungeons and siege weapons - so expect more of that.
If you've yet to try your hand at surviving the harsh deserts, keep an eye open this weekend. There's every chance the news will trigger a free weekend to drum up interest, or at least a discount period.
