Killer Instinct developer Iron Galaxy have today released a new trailer for their upcoming action/adventure Extinction, where one hero named Avil fights giant towering monsters. It looks a lot like an orc version of Attack on Titan, or a more violent Shadow of the Colossus. You can watch the trailer here or below.

Players take on the role of Avil, the last-remaining Sentinel, a group tasked with protecting humanity from the giant Ravenii, who were thought dead but have now returned. Whoops. Avil can fully and quickly traverse the environment, like Assassin's Creed or, well, the Attack on Titan game.
There are attacks by smaller minions, but it's the giant orcs sweeping across the horizon that pose the real threat. Players will need to use cunning and strategy to take down the giants, especially as a lot of them are armoured.
The press release describes how to take one down:
"Avil fights these giants in real-time combat, but there’s only one way to stop them permanently – decapitation. However, a Ravenii decked out in spiked armour isn’t going to be easy to take-down: his armour will injure Avil if he comes in contact with it. Therefore, he must lure a spiked Ravenii into smashing the ground, cracking his own armor until it breaks away. Only then can Avil sever a limb, vertically run up the monster’s torso, and make the finishing blow using a Sentinel’s most valuable skill: a powerful rune strike."
We're going to be honest here... that sounds a lot like Attack on Titan. Severing limbs and the only way to take one down is delivering a blow to the head? Hmm. Nevertheless the Attack on Titan game felt like a bunch of exciting ideas with too much repetition and poor execution, so many Iron Galaxy's Extinction will be able to get the formula right - unofficially.
Extinction will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC in Q1 2018.
