Bethesda seems to have learned a thing or two from offering a timed demo for DOOM after their last major E3 presser. They're trying it again with Dishonored 2 on April 6.
Announcing their plans a few days prior though a Steam Announcement post, Bethesda had potential players mark April 6 as the day they'd be able to take up the mantle of Emily Kaldwin or Covro Attano without dropping a penny.
Of course, it's a demo. It's limited. But it's a rather robust one at that. While the DOOM demo didn't last for more than 20 minutes at a time - unless you're a terrible shot - the Dishonored 2 free trial contains 3 complete missions from the beginning of the game with the option to try out the trio with either character.

The trail itself doesn't seem to be a time-limited affair like how the DOOM demo was only available for a week despite Bethesda getting up on stage and reminiscing about the long-lost days of shareware before the announcement. It states April 6 as the day the trial will go live through Dishonored 2's Steam Store page, but makes no mention of a time limit or proposed end date. So it looks like we're all good!
Saves made through the trial will carry over should you decide to pick up the full game afterward. There might even be a hefty discount for those quick to the purchasing trigger.
