Asmodee Digital announced over the weekend that it’s partnered up with Fantasy Flight Interactive to bring a video game version of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game to the PC in 2018.
The game will follow three heroes as they travel across a series of narrative campaigns across Middle-earth, forging their own fellowships by build decks consisting of ally, event, and equipment cards to help face challenges that test their willpower, knowledge, tactics and leadership.
“The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game takes what fans love about the physical card game adventure, lore, and a chance to play using powerful characters and artifacts - and adapts it for an entirely unique interactive experience on the PC,” said Tim Gerritsen, Head of Fantasy Flight Interactive. “For those unfamiliar with the card game, the digital adaptation invites players to become a part of the fantastical world J.R.R. Tolkien created and embark on new adventures.”
The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game will only support single-player on launch, but will be expanded shortly after to support co-op play as well.
There will be an early access version on Steam within the next few months, with the game fully launching in 2018.
