Like DOOM? Like VR? Well you better hope you didn't side with Oculus in the VR race, as Bethesda announce DOOM VFR solely for HTC Vive - and Playstation VR.
While we still have no solid release day for Fallout 4 VR, Big-B (as we're calling them now) have already decided to move onto another VR project with their fast-paced bloody shooter DOOM.
In the weeks leading up to E3 fans were wondering whether Bethesda's next VR push would have them tackle another open world - namely Skyrim. Being a far more photogenic and picturesque than the post-apocalyptic wastelands of Fallout would naturally be a more intriguing place to drop our virtual consciousness. Not so, say Bethesda! Rather than swap out the ruins of mankind for the lush green fields and snowy peaks of Skyrim, they've decided to let hell loose yet again - and they want your face to glued against the threat.
With Fallout 4 VR Still On This Horizon, We've Made A List Of What We'd Like To See
While Bethesda skipped over the title relatively quickly in their noticeably short press conference, they did take the time to clear up one important question. Is it a port of 2016's DOOM? No. It's an entirely new DOOM project that just happens to be in VR. Movement is still handled by a point n' click 'teleport' system that'll likely be warranted as a part of the player's combat suit rather than have them walk in a confined 'room scale' environment. Attacks are chained together between shots of a weapon and teleporting in-front of the enemy to execute the signature melee kills that made last year's DOOM such a bloody masterpiece.
Need some real context? Take a look at the trailer down below. It'll likely never be quite as fast-paced as last year's entry - but with the right practice, there's no real reason for DOOM VRF to not compliment the latest iteration of id Software's deadly shooter.
