Just because the main press conferences are over, doesn't mean E3 doesn't still have a few tricks up its sleeve. Team17 have used the free time of E3's first official expo day to debut a brand-new trailer for Genesis Alpha One.
It may not be the biggest news on Earth - or any hospitable nearby planets - but the trailer itself introduces the articifical intelligence designed to pilot these human colonists on their way to save their own race. It's all starting to feel a bit Alien, isn't it?
Coming from Daviation Blue, a German-based indie dev team working alongside Team17, Genesis Alpha One is a complicated (if intriguing) mix of a survival-based FPS with base-building and roguelike elements. Having fallen into the brink of ruin through war, pollution and general corruption, it's time for Earth's bigger coporations to pool their money together in the hopes of launching a space mission that could buy humankind a new life in the stars.
Genesis Alpha One Was Announced Back In February
Between customising the ship designed to take you on your grand colonisation mission, Genesis Alpha One employs a randomly generated universe promising to house viable farmland, clone creatures and, most importantly, alien infestations. Space is bleak, undiscovered and generally mysterious. If humankind isn't given a chance at an early grave at the hand of a higher being, what hope is there for the universe?
While we can't imagine sowing the seed of human DNA into the universe is a great idea with Earth having been destroyed by the very same species, it's a 'social experiment' that could see the extinction of humankind become a space meme in real life. That's a thing, right? Aliens have memes.
There's no release date on this one. Wait until humanity crumbles some more.
