UPDATE #2:
Siliconera has seemingly confirmed that not only has the HD version of Okami is coming December, the PC version might actually be coming earlier.
Capcom has revealed, in a translation from Ryokutya2089, that Okami HD will come to Japan on December 21 with HD and 4K support for 2,990 yen plus tax, which is approximately $27/£20 so quite cheap really.
Not only does Capcom confirm that Okami HD is coming to PC, we're actually getting it earlier - December 12 or 13 compared to the console version, which launches in Japan on December 21. We have no idea if this means only Japan, but hopefully not.
More as it develops.
UPDATE #1:
Further evidence to this rumour appeared today thanks to a user on NeoGAF, who spotted that the Korean Ratings Board have rated Okami HD. That's for PS4, Xbox One and PC. We're one step closer to the dream, people.
Original Story As Follows:
There's a rumour floating about over at Kotaku that Okami HD, the HD-ified version of Capcom's beloved Zelda-em-up, may be coming to PS4 and Xbox One in time for Christmas - December 12, specifically. But we're here to ask the important question: is it coming to PC too?
The Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy could be coming to PC and Xbox One!
The opening animation for Sonic Mania is glorious, but the game's been delayed on PC!
The evidence that Kotaku put together shows that two completely separate European retail outlets show Okami HD for PS4 and Xbox One getting a physical release on December 12. They are in different parts of the EU, and confirmed sources from both retail outlets gave them this information. The retail outlets weren't named, and it's possible they made a mistake, but that's a rather specific date for a mistake - particularly as Okami HD on PS3 never received a boxed retail version. If it's a scam it's a weirdly pointless one, and if it's inaccurate it's also bafflingly precise.
So we're saying this could very well be true, but what of the PC version? We say that if Okami HD comes to Xbox One, it will definitely also come to PC. Capcom never released an Okami game on Xbox (only Nintendo and Sony platforms), so if they allow Microsoft to have it the PC definitely will do too. Capcom are very friendly with the PC, we even got the second Mega Man collection recently, so we can't see any way Okami HD doesn't come to PC.
So why isn't it mentioned in the initial rumour or report? Easy: both just mention physical releases. Boxed releases, in stores. If Okami HD comes to PC, it'll be digital-only, most likely on Steam. Of course.
Okami was released on 2006 on PS2 to great acclaim, published by Capcom and developed by Clover Studio, who made this, Viewtiful Joe and God Hand before closing and being reborn as Platinum Games. Generally set in Japanese myth, you explore a gorgeous cel-shaded world as Amaterasu, a god in wolf form trying to both get her power back and restore the world to life. It contained a gesture system to perform miracles similar to Lionhead's Black & White. It's similar in gameplay style to Nintendo's 3D Legend of Zelda games, but Okami definitely had it's own style. The HD version of Okami was released on PS3 only in 2012, and while lovely it was still a little jagged due to the PS3's hardware.
With any luck, the definitive version of Okami will be on PC by the end of the year. Rest assured though, if it comes out on PS4 and Xbox One in retail, Okami HD will definitely come out on PC digitally too. Cross fingers.
