After a year of waiting Sudden Strike 4, the new game in the classic RTS series from Kalypso and Kite Games, is finally here! But as per usual with every game ever there’s no demo, and £39.99/$59.99 is a lot of money. So why not check it out with us first? We’ll be playing the first hour of the Allied campaign of Sudden Strike 4 at 21:00 UK time/13:00 PT/16:00 ET, and doing our best not to suck at it!

Here’s everything we know about Sudden Strike 4!

It’s been 10 years since Sudden Strike 3: Arms for Victory and 7 years since The Last Stand, during which time the franchise passed from creators Fireglow to new developers Kite Games. There are three extensive campaigns, based around Allied, German, and Soviet, and for the first time in the series there are nine individual real-life name commanders to help you out and offer perks. There are over 20 single-player scenario battles and a Skirmish mode, with modding supported through the Steam Workshop. There’s also online multiplayer, which we’re not going to touch with a bargepole.

As mentioned we’ll be taking on the first hour of the game, where we’ll be diving into the Allied campaign with gusto and seeing how far we can get without being slaughtered. We did quite well in Battlestar Galactica Deadlock but got roundly humiliated in Total War: Warhammer - The Norsca Campaign. Let’s hope for the former shall we?
