Ghost Recon and the Tom Clancy's franchise have long been a synonym of realism, bringing a more grounded approach to shooters than games like Quake or even Call of Duty. Based on the novels of famed military author Tom Clancy, Ubisoft authentic titles have often been well received and had a strong following.
It makes complete sense, then, that the latest update for Ghost Recon: Wildlands adds the Predator to the game. What screams realism and modern warfare more than an alien being from outer space hellbent on hunting other life forms with thermal vision?
Ghost Recon: Wildlands Patch Notes
Available from today till early January, the Predator Challenge will be free for all players of Ghost Recon: Wildlands. The hunt is playable solo or cooperatively with up to four players, and is billed a "the most difficult fight of all Ghost Recon Wildlands".
Defeating the alien will reward players with exclusive cosmetic items, including the Predator mask (complete with the signature thermal Predator vision) and 15 new customisation items, besides new weapons and an exclusive close combat move -- all inspired by the original Predator movie.
There is also a new PvP class inspired by the main character Dutch from the original Predator movie, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. This won't be free, and will require the Ghost War Pass, the Season Pass, or using their Prestige points to buy it directly.
“The Predator is a perfect fit for the Bolivian Jungle of Ghost Recon Wildlands, and fits flawlessly within the tense and tactical gameplay of the franchise from Ubisoft,” said Rick Phillips, President of FoxNext Games. While I agree that the jungle enviroment fits the movie pretty well, everything else about this makes zero sense. But then, Ubisoft has long stopped caring.
The Predator challenge goes live today, December 14th, and it accompanies the Jungle Storm free update. Besides the movie tie-in, the patch adds a ranked play mode and new Pathfinder class for PvP, alongside gear and gameplay updates for both the base game and competitive mode.
