Update: With April swiftly coming to a close, the re-mastering of the Nintendo DS classic Lock's Quest should have been well on its way to meeting its target release date - but that's no longer the case.
Originally set to release this month, THQ Nordic have quietly pushed the game back to May 30 without specifying a reason for the swift and sudden delay. Click the link to learn more of the features being added but not of the direct reason of the delay.
Original Story: With the wrench-wielding artwork of the initial reveal shot giving of a Dark Cloud 2 vibe right off the bat, it's enough to keep our attention on Lock's Quest instantaneously.
But that's about where the similarities end. Being a hybrid strategy/tower defence RPG originally debuting on the Nintendo DS handheld back in 2008, THQ Nordic recently decided to resurrect the fan-favourite through a multi-platform remaster.
Adapting its dual-screen layout and touch controls means we can expect similar pixel-style graphics across an isometric view with a revamped high-resolution UI, remastered music and various other improvements. Why it isn't being used as a quick mobile port is anyone's guess.

Giving a statement through the provided press release, Digital Continue founder, Joseph M Tringali said: "I always felt Lock’s Quest deserved a multi-platform release, and it’s exciting to help that vision come to pass all these years later" That's a long commitment to the late-game. Further features added to the remastered edition include a revamped progression system that ties in directly with the story, new Antonia Defence battles, remappable controls and higher resolution art assets.
With release coming relatively soon after its announcement, expect Lock's Quest to appear on your distribution method of choice this April.
