Updated Story: Sushee and Square Enix have announced early this morning that the demo for Fear Effect Sedna is now available on Steam for PC users. “Meet Hana and her teammates in an unique new world thoughtfully crafted to be gratifying for both - new and old fans of the Fear Effect franchise.” said the developers in the announcement post.
Sushee says that the Fear Effect Sedna Demo is taken from a beta build of the game, with feedback from this demo helping to shape the final release sometime this year. Fear Effect Sedna is also coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but there’s no word on a demo for those platforms at the moment.
Original Story - 17/05/2017
Demo versions of games started on the PC platform - but they certainly didn't stick there. Though consoles have constantly benefitted from these little tastes of upcoming games, PC gamers have typically been left alone in the dark. Fear Effect Sedna, however, isn't that cruel.
Though there still isn't a solid release window for Square Enix and Sushee's tactical shooter, word of a demo has arrived on Steam.
"We have exciting news" - said the announcement posted here. "free demo version of our newest title Fear Effect Sedna is coming to Steam soon". It's straight-forward and to-the-point; too bad is barely touches on the point before calling it quits and urging players to "stay tuned for further information". It reads like a cryptic government communication. Maybe it's supposed to.
Sega Is Looking To Revive Dormant IPs And Obtain More Worldwide PC Games
And this is a game that likely has somewhat of an audience keeping a close eye on it. Being the sequel to the original Fear Effect, Sedna is set 4 years after that game's events. It's a violent tactical shooter with the gang banding together once more to fight through anywhere from deep save systems to otherworldly realms based around the myths of the Inuit. It all plays out in an isometric style with some heavy cel-shaded animation sequences thrown in for narrative pleasure.
If you're a player of the original Fear Effect, you'll likely benefit from giving the Steam page a read to clue up on the story specifics. For the rest? Either check out the original or wait however long it may take for this demo to surface. stay tuned!
