After Eidos Montreal revealed over the weekend that they would be "placing an added emphasis" on online experiences, many worried they would not longer be working on single-player games - now head of studio David Anfossi says that is not the case, saying on Twitter that Eidos Montreal will "not give up the narrative single-player games".

Our review of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided!
Over the weekend Eidos Montreal head of studio David Anfossi posted a vision statement for the studio that had many gamers concerned. In the statement he said, "we are placing an added emphasis on the online experiences in our games... Through the inherent interactivity of online play, our universes will have the chance to thrive both now and into the future." Considering Eidos Montreal have never done any sort of online play, gamer concern was justified.
Nevertheless fan concern mounted, and now Anfossi has taken to Twitter to confirm that Eidos Montreal are not giving up single-player narrative games - just that their future titles will have online components too, or they will also be making online games alongside titles like Deus Ex.
Nobody said we give up the narrative single player games; this is what we like to do. Where did you read that?! 😉

He also added "Stay tuned if you like strong action adventure games". While no word yet about what Eidos Montreal's games will be like, hopefully they will have both single-player and online.
After both Thief and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided failed to sell well, Eidos Montreal's future has been in doubt. They currently are developing a new Tomb Raider game and the mysterious Avengers Project, but currently not another Deus Ex game. As long as they have narrative single-player story campaigns, if doing online stuff keeps them afloat so be it.
Just please: no more pointless microtransactions.
