The world is one vast, open playground. It is in real-life, and that fact only becomes more drastically true as we look at today's gaming culture. Constantly spoiled by these open spaces with developers constantly trying to build once larger than the last, it's time to look back at what makes these sandbox environments so gripping. And four of the leading development teams will be doing just that at PDXCON 2017 next month.
Taking place between May 13-14 in Stockholm, Sweden, Paradox Interactive's yearly media celebration will open its doors to the public for the first time. And with it, they'll be drafting in Mojang and Frontier Developments to chime with their industry takes.
Specifically taking place on May 13 at 3PM, Paradox Interactive's regular contributing development team Colossal Order (Cities: Skylines) will join Johan Andersson, Creative Director at Paradox's main in-house studio (Stellaris, Hearts of Iron etc.), to discuss just what makes the current cream of the crop so enticing for players to flex their creative muscles within. Joining them will be representatives of the House of Minecraft - Mojang - and Jonny Watts, the creative head working on games like Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster.

The panel itself - titled 'Creating Games for an Equally Creative Community' is set to "examine how hit titles like Minecraft, Cities: Skylines, and Planet Coaster inspire player’s creative instincts" while calling on its impressive panel to discuss just how they manage to squeeze in a select few features into their games atop the near-infinite amounts they're made to choose from during the development process.
If you're able to make it down to the event, it's likely a great opportunity for some developer insight. Suddenly PDXCON isn't all about Paradox Interactive, but a good chance to see how the broader game development world functions. If you happen to be in Stockholm around those dates, tickets are still available here.
