Ready to delve right on into uncharted territory and make a living butchering cows with a battleaxe and chopping trees? We're all been there. Northgard is heading into Early Access to give you the opportunity of a fresh start.
Shiro Games aren't quite a household name, but a good amount of us know them for their work on the creative indie hit 'Evoland' and its spruced up sequel; helping us to experience each era of our video game past. Northgard isn't quite filling those same boots, but it's a beautifully crafted blend of a 4X city builder.
Heading onto Steam's ever-popular Early Access program on February 22, Northgard will push you to make the most of your limited supplied its hostile lands. Being a brand of multi-purpose fighters, you can assign your small colony of vikings essential roles to help keep your people alive on the dangerous continent. Send some off to chop down the nearby woodland for usable materials while continuing to put your finely-crafted boats to good use as fishing vessels and methods of transportation.
Some might enjoy the complicated life of a merchant or peddler while others would like nothing more than to tend to the fields or pass their wisdom onto others. Winter in Northgard can be just as brutal as its beastly inhabitants, so ensuring your supplied can carry you through the cold months is just as important as building a good home for your civilization. And just like any good 4X simulator, there's a bunch of different victory conditions to work toward before the day is done.
Early Access isn't being used simply as a tool to check the final build for bugs, either. The extra time in development will allow Shiro Games to add new content alongside any core changes needed to balance out its various complicated aspects. You can check out the Steam page here.
