When it once seemed Ubisoft was done with the Might & Magic series, they've pulled out all the stops to make Might & Magic Showdown - a tactical PvP 'combat experience' that'll require pre-planning before executing your strategy in real-time.
Releasing into Early Access for players to play their own role in its ongoing developement, it's already available through Steam.
Ubisoft Splits From Might and Magic Developer Limbic Entertainment After 4 Year Partnership
Drawing from the inspiration and nostalgia of playing with figurines during childhood - or even into adulthood, really - Might & Magic Showdown hopes to bring the pastime back to those who may have left it behind by incorporating the rich lore of the Might & Magic universe. For those interested in catching up with Ubisoft's demonstration from yesterday, you can play through the half-hour segment posted above.
But for those not yet convinced, there's another trailer posted at the end of this article. Throwing in an extra feature for free, however, comes to idea of painting the figures you'll use in battle - much like those used in table-top war games we're all well aware of. While it's designed to be a feature within the main game itself, anyone who's simply looking to customise their own figurines can grab the Might & Magic Showdown 'Paint Workshop' for free through Steam, too, giving you the early opportunity to customise 5 of the main games figures without diving in the deep end.
There's no word when Might & Magic Showdown aims to leave Early Access, but that just means the players have an on-going opportunity to help shape it into the game they want. You can grab the main game through Steam.
