Who said that grand strategy is dead? Certainly not Paradox Interactive, as its latest sales figures for Hearts of Iron IV show that the game sold over half a million copies since it’s release in June 2016. This announcement follows record sales for Stellaris, Europa Universalis IV and Crusader Kings II.
Its been a sold 18 months for Paradox Interactive and their in-house development studios as each of their main franchise titles have sold extremely well on the market. This coupled with Paradox’s patented DLC flood on each game will no doubt net the publisher a hefty profit.
Paradox CEO Frank Wester talked about the recent success, saying “The PC remains the primary platform for games of this nature, Even genres that have traditionally been seen as niche can find a large audience, if a developer is dedicated to quality, variety and learning from both previous experiences and the community at large.”
“As a result of this success we are able to take advantage of extra time to add tweaks and polish to the game. Our community has high standards, and we will work hard to live up to their expectations in the coming weeks and months. We really want HoI to be the best it can be for our fans.” Wester added.
Hearts of Iron IV has just received its first major expansion in the form of Together For Victory and from the way Paradox is talking, it looks like post-launch content is set to continue for some time to come. Stellaris has also just received a major announcement in the form of the Utopia expansion, although little is known about it at the moment, but no doubt more information will be coming at PDXCON 2017 in May.
