Resident Evil 7's 'Not a Hero' DLC was originally teased to release just a few months after Resident Evil 7 itself, but was ultimately delayed with an apologetic video from the game's director and producer. Now set to release in December, we're getting all the gritty details - like this new gameplay trailer.
Unlike the base game, the free 'Not a Hero' DLC shifts the playable focus from the untrained civilian, Ethan Winters, and back to Chris Redfield of series fame. After dropping in at the end of the main game, Chris' section will pick up where things left off. As a member of the BSAA, he has a responsibility to fix the biohazards the series is built upon.
Though we've heard story details and seen the images over the last week or so, the official Resident Evil YouTube channel has been hiding the gameplay reveal trailer for a few days now, ready for a reveal at the Tokyo Games Show. In it, we see Chris begin his hunt for Lucas Baker before coming across some of his own soldiers locked up.

Then it's all about the action. Retaining the first-person approach of the main game, the Not a Hero DLC will feel similar in pace, but pack more of a punch. With more training and more firepower, Chris can easily take on numerous Molded whereas Ethan would have likely been forced to flee or die. Drop in a bigger creature, however, and you're still going to need to conserve ammo from the looks of things.
Free to all owners of Resident Evil 7 on December 12, the Not a Hero DLC could be seen as something of a nod to those who bought into the series' more action-oriented sequels. Capcom have put themselves in a bit of a situation with this franchise.
