You might have heard us bickering on about it for a while now, but Planet Coaster really did offer up exactly what we all wanted from a new-age park management sim.
After all those years building up the Rollercoaster Tycoon sequels we all loved back in the early 2000s, Frontier Developments proved they were a good reason behind the franchise's success. After putting out a few similar games like Scream Ride and Thrillville across the last two generations, they decided to 1-up Atari at their own game.

And thus began the war of the coasters. Both in development around the same time, heading into Early Access at similar times and releasing just one day apart from each other, Atari was at arms with Frontier Developments with the legacy they forged with Rollercoaster Tycoon World. Seeing the petty fight break out, most took the morale high-ground and sided with Planet Coaster until the very end. Now, with one clearly beating out the other, Frontier Devs want to twist the knife ever deeper by suing Atari for apparent lack of royalties from the past.
