Surfacing as the last remaining remnant of the now defunct (yet still legendary) Lionhead Studios, Fable Fortune has risen from its ashes.
After a slight delay earlier in the month, the Fable franchise joins the ever-growing list of RPG classics turned collectible card games. Technically only hitting Early Access, Fable Fortune will be free to play following its wider release. For now, however, access is a £7.99 purchase away.
In its current state, Fable Fortune gives players access to a straight-forward PvP mode and co-op events that move up a season every few weeks. In terms of style, you're looking at a card game that's strikingly similar to Hearthstone and Shadowverse in which you're spending 'gold' each turn to use more powerful cards - or just more smaller ones in one turn.
To Read About Its Past, Check Out What Happened During The Fable Fortune Kickstarter
The game originally hit Kickstarter soon after the cancellation of Fable Legends when Microsoft decided to call time on Lionhead. Shortly after the devastating event, former staff members were given the go-ahead to carry on their secret side project - Fable Fortune - over at Flaming Fowl Studios. Earning more than enough through a sudden investment, the Kickstarter was cancelled and its Early Access plan was put into place.
If you're looking to get involved, access to Fable Fortune will set you back £7.99 right now (or £9.99 next month). But it's not all without reason. For your commitment, you're receive the 'Founders Pack' that would typically run new players more than double the cost. With that, you get 20 card packs for a total of 100 cards and two bonus cards - Chicken Vengeant and Giant Egg. If that doesn't sound like Fable, you probably haven't played enough Fable.
