SteamWorld Dig started as a little-known 3DS game that quickly became a cult hit. Despite starting life as a rare Nintendo-exclusive indie game, it eventually slipped onto other platforms.
So when Nintendo's indie showcase revealed the sequel, many likely feared of history repeating itself - a history where those who played SteamWorld Dig on a non-Nintendo machine would have to wait even longer for the release. That won't be the case suggest Image and Form Games.
According to Destructoid, the studio is committed to releasing SteamWorld Dig 2 as a multi-platform title as soon as possible. But how soon could that be? As early as "a few days of the Nintendo Switch debut", apparently.
Citing a bigger team and the harder work they're able to put out as the sole reason multi-platform is even a possibility right now, Image & Form Games are starting to see themselves as "a 'real' game studio". And we're happy for them!

Though they may be planning that PC release around the Nintendo Switch debut, neither version has a solid release date just yet. We're still told to expect SteamWorld Dig 2 to arrive in Late Summer/Early Autumn, so we'll have to remain optimistic at best. Rest assured, a PC release is now a 'sooner rather than later' situation.
