We sincerely hope you haven't booked time off work to build and defend your own slice of the ARK: Survival Evolved world as it finally releases into a proper 1.0 state - because that's not happening quite as soon as originally planned.
After many long years in an Early Access state, popular survival game ARK: Survival Evolved is about to miss its original August 8 release date citing potential boxed copy logistics as a cause.
The game went gold as planned, yet Studio Wildcard recently announced that the 'process took a little longer than expected', causing the game's release to be pushed back to the end of the month. Also due to launch on the same day was the game's massive Ragnarok update which is now, understandably, delayed to the new August 29 release.

The update itself was due to bring new engrams, biomes, 'Wyvern canyon', a new boss and some little secret the devs are keeping firmly under wraps. But it isn't all bad news; the delay means the team are now expecting to ship an even bigger Ragnarok update than they initially thought. The extended release window means they're conjuring up a play area that's 1/4 bigger than it was originally planned to be. Or, in vanilla ARK terms, bigger by one hole 'The Island' - the game's original map.
In the mean time, expect a couple more little patches to come your way as the team attempts to iron out any bugs and glitches that could severely impact the first impressions of those picking up a boxed copy for the first time. This release means ARK is coming to consoles, and they're a little less used to Early Access states.
