Shenmue 3, the long awaited third game for the series started in 1999, has not had much more than a few screenshots and short trailers, but the game's producer Cédric Biscay has said on Twitter that the game will be released in 2018 - and promises more surprises to come.

While the 2018 date is not set in stone and could obviously slip, it's good that the people in charge of the game are still aiming for later this year. We're more interested in the "other surprises" comment though. What else could they have in store alongside Shenmue 3?
Alongside this developer Ys Net posted their latest Kickstarter update with little new information, but the video part of the update promises more to come in 2018 - as well as some intriguing news about changes to the fighting system, which sounds like it will be less Virtua Fighter (Yu Suzuki also created the VF series and used the same mechanics in the last two Shenmue titles) and more puzzle-based. We'll have more as we get it, but we're already looking forward to playing a title decades in the making.
