UPDATE #3
War! The fourth episode of the Stellaris YouTuber War is out now, and you can check it out below.
At last the YouTuber galactic civilizations are at a point where they can get to the fun stuff, which is declaring war on each other and making ill-advised tactical decisions. Will the galaxy fall to the fascist Space Penguins, or will the Gecko-Cat Alliance actually get their act together and halt the advance of the Pingu Destroyers? Oh, and there's some more sweet betrayal on the human side too.
We got in touch with Paradox to ask about the YouTuber War, mostly wanting to know about the prize and what made Paradox want to put this together. They said:
"We wanted to show that grand strategy doesn't have to be an intimidating and arcane genre -- no matter your level of experience, anybody can have fun building an empire, plotting against their friends, and (almost) conquering the universe."
As for the prize, it's "victory and continued galactic dominance.". So, gloating rights. Gotcha.
UPDATE #2
The war is about to begin, as Paradox have added the next two episodes of the Stellaris YouTuber War.
Episode 2 features toy factories, fallen empires, sinister betrayal pacts and the tentative building of alliances with the extreme likelihood of betrayal later.
Episode 3 features dead penguins, space pirates, astro-whales, a mythical poop asteroid, and a betrayal that is the very opposite of a surprise.
We're presuming the War will continue tomorrow on Paradox's YouTube channel, where it's likely we'll get some actual battles between the YouTubers this time. Can't wait.
UPDATE #1
The first episode is out now, which you can check out below, which aside from introducing the YouTubers in question also gives some further details about the challenge. The six YouTubers have supposedly not had any experience with Stellaris, so the war will be six inexperienced players building up their empires and attacking each other. In addition this episode actually functions as a neat introduction to the game itself. All the players are in the same room in separate booths.
We do feel sorry for AshleyMarie not being allowed to call her empire "Shitlords" however.
Original Story
Paradox Interactive are persuading six YouTubers to go to war against each other... in a nice way. The six streamers will take each other on in the violent battlefield of Stellaris, and presumably there will be some sort of prize for the winner.

At this precise moment in time we don't have much to go on beyond the video below, but we've reached out to Paradox Interactive for further details and an explanation of what this crazy scheme is all about and will update this post when we get all those details.
For now, enjoy this video of YouTubers getting angry at each other.
