Kotaku had the initial story, and it was confirmed by Capcom to Destructoid. Capcom's response was the following:
"Capcom Vancouver has undergone a restructure which has impacted approximately 30 percent of the studio, as part of its regular periodic assessment of upcoming projects and overall studio goals. The team is continuing to work hard to support the recent release of Puzzle Fighter for mobile and is dedicated to its flagship Dead Rising series."
Kotaku's source suggested that it was around 50 people. They also said that Capcom is cancelling one unannounced project and cutting scope on Dead Rising 5, which is supposedly "over-scoped and under-staffed". Presumably it was set somewhere a lot larger than a mall, and now Capcom feel the need to rein it in. It's just sad that they had to lay off so many talented people to do that.
